Light it Up!

This world is not my home, I'm just a-passing through. But, in the meantime, we have to live here, work here, raise our children here, and we interact with many along the way. It's no secret that the world we live in is in complete turmoil. And why? Because the world lacks a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.

When one has no connection with Christ, the works of the flesh are substantial when compared to the fruits of the spirit.

Becoming consumed by darkness is what is taking place here and since darkness is the absence of light, the only thing that can overcome darkness is light.

According to the dictionary, light is defined as the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible. In that same manner, that is what we are to be to the world around us. Matthew 5:14-16 states, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

Ephesians 5:8-10 reads, "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord."

Furthermore, Galatians 5:22-25 reads, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

These are attributes that we should all possess.

A simple, "Hello!" Is letting your light shine. Acts of kindness are letting your light shine. And we all know a smile goes a long way.  We never know what someone is going through or what they could be bottling up inside. Your light can brighten someone's day and lift them up out of darkness.

Remember, when we come in contact with people in the world, we may be the only encounter of the Bible they know.

Let us always allow our light to shine in all aspects of our life so much that it radiates without a word being spoken. That others can see the love of Christ in our life and want the same for themselves.

This world needs us more than ever. Let's go light it up!
