Proverbs 16:9

If your anything like me, you’ve got to have a plan. When it comes to my next activities, planning a vacation, or even getting my outfit ready for Church the night before, I want to be prepared and I want to be ready.

I remember when I was about ready to go to college, I somehow got the dimensions of my soon-to-be dorm room and would plan out the exact spot for my bed, dresser, television, and fridge months in advance. Planning is just something that’s deep in my core, and when there is no plan, things just seem so chaotic.

The Bible has a lot to say when it comes to planning, including one of my favorite passages in Proverbs 16:9. “A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”

I can plan my way and I can map out my future to my heart’s content, but at the end of the day GOD IS IN CONTROL! He directs my steps, and He guides my choices. Make no mistake, with everything is the life, the Lord is in control. Whether its wars, elections, or life’s constant choices, our God is on the throne. If we trust Him like we should, we can live with full assurance that everything will work out according to His will.

Lastly, when a man’s heart is guided by the Lord, his steps line up with where God wants to take him. He wants a relationship with you because He loves you, so why not give in to His will for your life? Proverbs 3:5-6 says it best: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
